Raindrops
Polyrhythms, for Android
A pocket instrument where a polyrhythm comes together in seconds, with one hand.
The app is meant to be minimal, yet it does a lot. You can build a steady, good-sounding groove with accents placed hit by hit, or a complex polyrhythm.
You don’t just hear the rhythm, you see it: every layer is a ring, every hit is a mark on it, and one cursor sweeps them all.
It’s for drummers and percussionists practising independence, for musicians sketching a rhythmic idea, and for anyone who wants to see how two pulses lock together.
What it does
- Up to 8 layers, each with its own number of steps across the same cycle.
- Every hit has its own strength: accents and ghost notes are drawn with a swipe.
- 8 drum sounds, each recorded soft, medium and strong: a harder hit sounds different, not just louder.
- Tempo scrolled with your thumb or tapped in; solo and mute for any layer while it plays.
- Presets of the classic polyrhythms — 3:2, 4:3, 5:4, 7:4 — and your own saved patterns.
- Keeps playing with the screen off or behind another app.
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no network access. Free.
